Kelsey + Dalton | Rocky Valley Trail | Little Rock, Arkansas Engagement Session

To say a lot has changed in my life and business since I last shared a formal blog is an understatement. I’m now shooting both in Virginia and Arkansas! Transitioning my business across the country has not come without challenge- one of which being no familiarity with locations! But this particular “problem” has already proved time and again to simply be a new adventure that has thrilled my creative heart and challenged me in ways I haven’t felt in years!

Although it is a humbling experience to ask clients, “Do you have any location suggestions?!” It has been such a great way to explore my new home and see the immense beauty of Arkansas!

When Kelsey first sent me Rocky Valley Trail, I actually squealed! This was one of the first locations my little family and I visited when we moved to Arkansas in January and I told my husband that I would just love to shoot a session there!

These two attorneys met and fell in love at law school and their story continues when they tie the knot in just a few months!

Sierra Vista Engagement Session: Rachel + Evan

Ohh Rachel and Evan! I think I could write a novel when it comes to the hiccups they have worked past as they have planned and replanned…. and replanned…. and REPLANNED their wedding!

This couple has become so near and dear to my heart because I will be sharing not only a wedding anniversary with them, but also the wedding venue my husband and I were married at almost six years ago! To be honest walking around Sierra Vista and reliving my own memories was a little emotional for me in so many sweet ways. I feel absolutely honored to now be capturing Rachel + Evan’s love story against these tall pines and sweeping mountain backdrop!

Southwest Virginia Engagement Session: Jasmine + Bailey

We could not have had a more beautiful, fall evening for Jasmine and Bailey’s engagement photos!! These two were complete naturals in front of the camera which is no easy task. We had plenty of laughs, soaked in a stunning mountain sunset, pet a few donkeys, and found ourselves cornered by a herd of cows. Those are some words I never imagined typing on my blog but geez, I love this life in Southwest Virginia!

Jasmine and Bailey’s wedding venue is SO beautiful and I was lucky enough to get a tour from them during our session! Everywhere you turn is picturesque and it took quite a bit of self-control not to use every portrait location possible… this is going to be an April wedding you don’t want to miss!

Colonial Williamsburg Engagement: Ron + Courtney

I’m so excited to share this session for so many reasons!! I first met Courtney in 2016. I was still in my first year of business and she was a bridesmaid in the second wedding I had ever shot! Over the past four years I’ve had the privilege of capturing the weddings of several ladies from the same bridal party and now… it’s Courtney’s turn!! Seeing her again for her engagement session felt like seeing an old friend you are already so comfortable with (heck we had a FaceTime meeting back in May sans makeup) and I’m extra excited for her wedding day because I know how great these ladies are at celebrating one another!!

Ron and Courtney, it’s so clear what a perfect match you are for one another and I’m so honored you’ve chosen me to document your love story!

Virginia Mountain Engagement Session: Sorella Farms

Where do I even begin with Lindsey + Palmer!? This incredible couple has handled all of this season's obstacles with such patience + poise. As children they grew up four houses away from one another, have officially been dating for over half a decade, and they’ll be tying the knot in just over a week!!

After multiple reschedules, impending thunderstorms, and a long road trip to southwest Virginia, we were gifted with this STUNNING morning light at the beautiful Sorella Farms! If I’ve ever had the privilege of capturing your portraits you know that I LOVE the soft glowy lighting that comes right after sunrise and right before sunset. They certainly call these times “golden hour” for a reason! While alarms go off extra early for sunrise sessions, they have never disappointed when it comes to beautiful, romantic shoots. There is just something about soaking in the quietness of the day with the love of your life before the rest of the world is awake.

Lindsey + Palmer, you have waited so patiently and worked so hard for your special day NEXT week. I cannot wait to celebrate your marriage and document your wedding day!

Richard + Caroline | Engagement Session

This engagement session was extra special to shoot and even felt a little bit surreal. I first met Caroline when I was her summer camp counselor her eighth grade year!! (Can I get a holla from my “eighth grade ladies WHAT WHAT!?”) Life took us separate ways, as it tends to do, but I was beyond ecstatic (and a bit nostalgic) when she contacted me about capturing her wedding this August!

February weather can make scheduling sessions difficult- we even had to reschedule because of chilly rain the week before. We decided to take a chance with a new date, despite an 80% chance of rain. As the day drew closer we watched that percentage drop to ZERO and enjoyed a beautiful sunny day without even a jacket in tow!

We enjoyed a walk on a Lynchburg trail with a few hundred of our closest friends (and all of their dogs!) Caroline and Richard were absolute champions being surrounded by so many people while I followed them with a camera and even explained “the nuzzle.” They posed like naturals and Richard kept us laughing until the very end!

Caroline and Richard I am so honored to play a small role in this beautiful love story, I am counting down the days until you are husband and wife!
